SMITE 2 Glossary — Ranked, Role & Stat Terms

Plain-language definitions for the SR, MMR, role, game mode, and stat terminology used across SmiteTracker — plus in-game terms like Tracker Pacts that are easy to confuse with stat tracking.

Ranking & Rating

SR (Skill Rating)

SMITE 2's ranked rating number, shown alongside your rank tier. SR replaced SMITE 1's primarily Elo-based system. Hi-Rez has not published the exact formula, but SR clearly weighs match variance and individual performance rather than moving by a fixed amount on every win or loss.

MMR (Matchmaking Rating)

The internal rating SMITE 2's matchmaker uses to pair you with opponents of similar skill. SR is the ranked number derived from it that you actually see reflected in your tier.

Percentile Standing

How your SR compares to the rest of the ranked player base, rather than to a fixed point scale. Two players in the same rank tier can have different percentile standing depending on where in that tier's SR band they sit.

Variance (Ranked)

How much a single match's outcome can move your SR. Variance is highest during placement matches early in a ranked split and narrows as the system gathers more data on your true skill level.

Rank Tiers

SMITE 2's ranked tiers, from lowest to highest: Clay, Amber, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Obsidian, Master, Demigod, Deity. Each tier is a readable label placed over a range of underlying SR.

Game Modes

Conquest

SMITE 2's primary 5v5 mode, played across three lanes with a jungle. Ranked Conquest is the main competitive queue and the mode most tracked stats (SR, KDA, builds) are measured in.

Ranked Conquest

The competitive, SR-rated version of Conquest. Placement matches at the start of each split carry more SR weight than regular ranked games.

Duel

A 1v1 solo-lane game mode that tests matchup knowledge and mechanical skill in isolation, without team rotations or jungle pressure.

Joust

A smaller-scale 3v3 mode played on a single lane, favoring early aggression and tighter team fights than Conquest.

Arena

A fast, team-deathmatch-style mode focused on kills and minion waves rather than objectives, lanes, or towers.

Roles & Classes

Solo

The role responsible for holding the solo lane, typically played by Warriors who can absorb damage and create space for the team.

Jungle

The role that clears neutral camps and roams to gank other lanes, typically played by Assassins who need early kills to snowball.

Mid

The solo-farming role in the middle lane, typically played by Mages who scale through ability damage and burst combos.

Carry

The hyper-scaling damage role that farms the duo lane early and takes over fights late, typically played by Hunters.

Support

The protective duo-lane role that sets up kills and peels for the carry, typically played by Guardians with crowd control and sustain.

Stats & Metrics

KDA

Kills plus Assists, divided by Deaths — a combat-contribution ratio that's fairer to supports and tanks than K/D alone, since it credits setup and crowd control, not just kill participation.

GPM (Gold Per Minute)

Average gold income per minute, a core measure of farming and objective efficiency used to compare economic pace between players in the same role.

DPM (Damage Per Minute)

Average damage dealt per minute, useful for comparing offensive output between players of the same role and game length.

Win Rate

The percentage of games won out of total games played — the simplest performance signal, best read alongside KDA and SR trend rather than alone.

Pick Rate / Ban Rate

Pick rate is how often a god is selected across ranked games; ban rate is how often it's banned before it can be picked. High ban rate alongside high win rate usually signals a genuinely overtuned god rather than just a popular one.

Platform & Game

Cross-play

SMITE 2's shared matchmaking pool across Steam, Epic Games, Xbox, and PlayStation — matches and stats mix all platforms together rather than separating them.

Tracker Pact

A purely cosmetic in-game reward from SMITE 2's Tracker Syndicate event — unlocks kill-counter style visual effects for specific gods. Unrelated to stat tracking or SR/MMR.

Open Beta

SMITE 2's current development stage — free-to-play and publicly playable, but still receiving balance changes, new gods, and system updates ahead of a full launch.
